Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
Join us for a different kind of race on Thursday June 21, 2012 at 6:30 PM with the start/finish line at Midlothian Middle School.
We are planning to begin a race series called the “Bare Bones.” Each race will be a completely unique race experience with different challenges for different events at different locations. The race on June 21 will an introduction to the potential adventure race series.
The Bare Bones Adventure Race combines
a small element of speed with a big
strategy and is guaranteed to be nothing
but fun and challenging!!!
This is a bare bones event.
Water and bathroom facilities will be available at the race site but anything more is up to YOU.
The rules are simple. We will have wave starts of no more than 15 runners (no bicycles permitted for the first race) leaving approximately 45 seconds to 1 minute apart. The goal is to reach 3 way points, pick up a token at each way point and return to the start line with your three tokens. The course YOU take and the order that YOU go to each way point is entirely up to YOU. The race is yours to run in any way that YOU see fit. The approximate distance is 5K but it will be more for some and much less for others depending on the course that YOU choose to run. The course will not be marked in any way. Go any way that you want as long as you pick up a token at each way point. EACH RUNNER will set their own course entirely and run it to suit their own strategy.
For the first race all way points will published well in advance of the event and can be easily found. No need for a compass or guess work. You will know where the way point is. The strategy is in how you decide to get there.
The field is limited to the first 150 to register and there will be no race day registrations. Each participant who has registered by June 14 will receive a custom designed Bare Bones race shirt.
Come out for a truly different and challenging race experience.
