On April 17th – 18th, Ashland, Virginia is hosting a two day event to bring together outdoor enthusiasts, bikers, runners, families, and friends for a great time and to raise money for an inspiring young athlete, Kirk Williams.
Kirk spent much of his youth riding the back roads of Hanover County and racing road and mountain bikes up and down the east coast. After high school, he moved to Boulder, CO and earned a degree from the University of Colorado. In addition to school, he spent much of his time on the bike and in the mountains.
On November 8th, 2009 he took a fall from his mountain bike and was unable to get up. The accident resulted in a severe spinal cord injury, and Kirk is currently paralyzed from the chest down with no finger dexterity. All proceeds from The Roll-Out will be donated to help defray Kirk’s medical and equipment expenses.
The 2010 Kirk Williams Roll-Out will include The Extravaganza on Sat 4/17, a night of music, food, and fun. The Roll-Out is on Sun 4/18 from Patrick Henry High School, just outside of Ashland, and will feature a day of riding, running, music, food, and outdoor enjoyment.
