Registration is $25 for students with student ID, $35 for adults, and $30 each for members of groups numbering five or more participants. Registration includes a race bib, color packet, and t-shirt if you sign up before May 5, 2017.
Race to the End includes fun activities for the entire family. In addition to the 5K campus color run, the event features a 30 minute Zumba warmup at 8:15am, Vendors/Crafts, the KidZone, and concessions.
Race to the End benefits JR Tucker’s Drama Department and Athletic Boosters. Tucker’s drama department has been select to perform at the Fringe Festival, the world’s largest performing arts festival. The Fringe occurs every August and is located in Edinburgh, Scotland. Race to the End is one of the many fundraisers the drama department has organized to assist students with more than $160,000 in travel expenses.
JR Tucker is the only public high school in Virginia selected to perform at the 2017 Fringe Festival. In fact, JR Tucker is the only Richmond area school invited to perform at the Fringe in adecade. JR Tucker’s performance at the Fringe Festival in 2015 earned a nomination for the Freedom of Expression award from Amnesty International, one of only two high schools to be so honored. Students will perform an original play, Deleted, written by Tucker’s very own Kate Ficklin and Lisa Dyer.
