Run to the River is a challenging 10k hill race and 5k walk to benefit the Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC). Runners will tackle three hills as they dash over cobblestone streets, through historic neighborhoods, and along the banks of the James River.
All three hills (Libby, Powhatan and Fulton) are short and steep, yet should not deter runners from taking on the challenge. Terrain will cover running on the road, sidewalks, grass, cobblestones and stairs up to Libby Hill Park.
The race route is a loop which offers tremendous variety - lots of ups and downs - with elevations at sea level dropping from 170 feet at the top of the race to 12 feet at the Rocketts Landing marina.
Enjoy live music, refreshments and a free massage at the finish line party.
Run to the River raises money for the Neighborhood Resource Center, a grassroots, nonprofit community center in the East End of Richmond. The NRC offers programs such as tutoring, Montessori preschool, after school programs, art, music, and GED classes.
