The State Fair Stampede is a 5K and 10K run/walk on the morning of Oct 5, 2013, at The Meadow Event Park in conjunction with the State Fair of Virginia.
The State Fair Stampede is a Healthy Hearts Healthy Minds event organized and managed by Colonial Sports, hosted by the State Fair of Virginia and sponsored by the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation. A portion of the proceeds will benefit Virginia’s Agriculture in the Classroom program, which serves to educate Virginia’s teachers and students about the important role that agriculture plays in our health, the environment and our overall well-being.
Participants have the option of running or walking on a beautiful USATF-certified 5K or 10K course located on the State Fair grounds, 13111 Dawn Blvd., Doswell, VA 23407. Courses share start and finish lines and the first 2.8 miles of the 10K course. All participants can compete for individual and team awards. There is a Clydesdale and Filly division. This is a chipped, timed race.
Registration begins at noon on June 1, 2013, and closes as soon as 2,000 entrants are reached or at 8 p.m. on Oct. 4, 2013. NO race day registrations!

Packet pickup is 1-8 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at the Quality Inn and Suites, 810 England St., Ashland, VA 23005, and 6:30-7 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, at the start line, adjacent to the Derby House at The Meadow Event Park.
5K Top Three Overall Male and Female and Top Three Male and Female in 5-year increments starting at 9 and Under, to 70 and over.
10K Top Three Overall Male and Female and Top Three Male and Female in 5-year increments starting at 14 and under, to 70 and over.
5K and 10K Teams. A Team consists of 5 or more registered members regardless of gender. Scoring is the cumulative combined time of the top three members of each team. Team with the best cumulative time wins.
Clydesdale: Male 200 lbs.+ fastest finisher wins. Must be registered in the Clydesdale Division.
Filly: Female 150 lbs.+ fastest finisher wins. Must be registered in the Filly Division.
Races begin at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct 5. Runners should enter through Gate 2 of The Meadow Event Park. Parking will be to the right; the start line is near the Derby House, approximately 400 yards from the parking lot.
Award Ceremony: 5K at 9 a.m. and 10K at 9:30 a.m., in front of Meadow Hall.
All participants will receive a Technical T and custom finisher medal.
Food and beverages will be available after the race and during the award ceremony—water, apples, bananas, bagels, cream cheese, peanut butter and trail mix. The State Fair opens at 10 a.m. with numerous vendors offering a variety of food and drink.
Everyone is encouraged to make it a day at the State Fair. Showers and restroom facilities are available on fair grounds, and there will be fabulous events, rides and performances throughout the day. Adult admission is $15, and a Family Fun Pack—2 adult tickets, 2 children’s tickets and 2 unlimited ride wristbands—is $75 (Advance sales only, not available at ticket plaza during the fair). This will be a great time to compete and relax with friends, family and fellow runners.
