Event Description

The 12th Annual RRRC Trail races formerly called the Swinging Bridge Trail Runs. The name was changed because the course changes no longer included the Swinging Bridge.

The trial is designated a "wilderness trail" by the State Forest Department. It is challenging, not because of elevation, but because there are significant "blow downs" to run over, around and through. There are also a dozen stream crossings that will be ankle deep or knee deep depending on recent rainfall.

Also be aware that if you don't pay attention you "will" go off trail, at least briefly. It's marked with blazes and some signs, but still challenging to see the many turns.

whew, good question there chris. in reality need to be there by 7:30. so leave by 6:30 (ouch!) not a big warm up needed for 35k. last year it took me 3:30 something. so that around your time you predicted. i know this is last min. not to mention i need to head out for a quick light trot to decide if i want to use my new brooks trail shoes or not.

The race starts at 8AM, right?

Packet pick up on race day beginning about 6:30 in the Bear Creek Lake Park - Meeting Hall. You can't miss it as you drive in!

I might not be able to pass up a ride, not sure how awake I'll be that early in the morning.  I'm not sure how fast you are, I wouldn't want you to have to wait around too long for me to finish. I'm a bit out of shape for this distance, but I think 3:50-4:00 is doable for me right now.  What time were you thinking about leaving.

re: stream crossings. in my experience and depending on your goals, you can tip toe and pick your way across the streams. i'm willing to loose a few seconds to avoid plunging and getting soaked.

in my opinion and exp merino wool is a weapon of choice. especially socks. keeps you warm when it's wet.

anyone interested in car-pooling, i'll even drive. i live near crossroads coffee, 2 blocks from the 13 mile marker on the marathon course. i'm doing the 35k...that's it!

throwing that out there, as i know parking is limited and it's the eco thing to do.
