Winter Solstice Illuminted Trail Run

A Thursday Nite Illuminated Trail Run!!!

Yes, the Winter Solstice will occur at 6:47 am in the morning of Monday, December 21, 2009. We will be celebrating on Thursday, December 17 with a trail run on the James River Trail system. You are invited to participate in The Museum of Fine Arts Thursday Nite Winter Solstice Road/Trail Training Run. This group has been running together for over 20 years.

The run begins at 5:32pm. It starts and finishes on Sheppard Street between the Museum of Fine Arts parking structure and Benedictine High School. The 7-8 mile course will take you past the Carillon, across The Boulevard Bridge, along the Buttermilk Trail to Riverside Towers, across Belle Isle, through Oregon Hill and back to the Museum while taking in the holiday decorations in the Fan. A reflective vest and light source (hand-held or headlamp) are required. A hand held water (or holiday eggnog) supply is recommended.

This run is not for you if you have never run trails before . The pace will be 7 - 8:30 minute miles. There will be no one on the trail to help you if you get lost. It will be dark. Lights are required.
