Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
Tomorrow morning at 7AM Pacific Time , local Lexington, KY runner Will Bailey will touch the Pacific Ocean in Venice Beach, CA and begin his eastward journey in his quest to run across America and visit all 48 contiguous states. His plan is to run 38 miles a day, dividing his day into two 19 mile runs with a four hour break between sessions.
Will has been training hard since I arrived in Lexington last summer, often putting in 20+ miles during our Saturday morning runs and running numerous marathons. Over the past 5 weeks he has been training with a baby jogger laden with 75 pounds of books and water jugs to simulate the full load he will be pushing on his journey.
He is hoping to raise $10,000 for the American Heart Association along the way. We expect to see him again the first week in August when he comes back through Lexington on his journey. While he will only touch the northern edge of Virginia you can follow his trek on his website below.
The local Subway chain has provided him with 500 gift cards to take care of his dining needs on his journey, hopefully he will not select the same menu as Jared...

It certainly is not a route that one would envision when talking about a cross country trek as he misses vast areas of the country and only literally touches on some states. He has a transponder that he was carrying on our run 2 weeks ago that should constantly update his website with his location.

I pray for him and his knees!!!!
