Hope all is well. Anyone planning on running in the Maymont X-Country on Saturday, September 24th? Looking for someone to train and run with. Thanks, and take care.

New to Richmond and looking to join a training group for marathon prep. Running the NYC Marathon in November. How can I join this running group?
Thanks,
Vance

How was Irene to you? She was so kind as to wrap my house in trees.....

Permalink Reply by Run Happy on August 30, 2011 at 6:32pm Hello Mitzi;
Yes, there is a house there somewhere. Just got a quote on tree removal...lets just say OUCH! They are starting by removing the trees from the top of the house in front this afternoon, then they will work on the trees that are on top of the back of the house on Wednesday. My tool shed is completly dead. Dang it! I built that after Isable took out my previous tool shed. From what I can see, I have roof and water damage but to what extent, I do not know. My contractor is coming out tomorrow evening for inpections.
I was not in the house as I had left about 45 minutes before to head out to Midlothian to help my parents with their storm related issues. I am hanging out there for now. At least they have running water, exits and a generator. I brought my coleman stove so we can even cook.
Got to love Irene.

Permalink Reply by Mitzi Humphrey on August 31, 2011 at 10:03am Hoping that you and your parents, Marianna, can quickly recover from this
devastation. Sheryl, our daughter who lives in Staten Island and has a house in the Catskills, has been monitoring the situation in upstate NY and VT. There has been horrendous flooding. Some little towns are completed flooded and isolated. We actually fared much better than those people. I hope help can get to them soon.
Did you see that Richmond.com has a contest for The Last Richmonder to Regain Power? Lots of good prizes but no one wants to win that!
Best to you and your family and please let us know if you need a little refrigerator space.

So sorry about your home, but thankful you were not in there when the trees fell. I wish you all the best with restoring your home.

I am so sorry about the destruction in your neighborhood, but I am glad that you and PC are ok. I hope you have power by now.
