On the Saturday BPG run we had a discussion on what is a group of Turkeys called.  I looked it up this morning and Wikipedia:

****--

“A group of turkeys is called a rafter, although a gang is also an acceptable name. They have also alternately been called a gobble….”

How did the Turkey get its name?

“When Europeans first encountered turkeys on the American continent, they incorrectly identified the birds as a type of guineafowl (Numididae), also known as turkey fowl (or turkey hen and turkey cock), due to that bird's importation to Central Europe through Turkey. That name, shortened to just the name of the country, stuck as the name of the American bird.”

I all ways say a good day is a day I’ve learned something new…thus it is a good day.  I hope my sharing my good day with you will also make for a good day for you.

Joy and happy running…..

I'm out for Saturday. No running for a week or so. PC will be there.

Thank you Marianna. Now we know what to call us.

Injury?

Oh, I just got a correction....a "group" of turkeys are "Hokies".... this from a Hokie runner from Va Beach.....  :-)

Run Happy (Gobble, Gobble, Gobble)

I'm out tomorrow, too.  No 7AM group!

Wednesday Night Detention Run: 6pm Westmoreland/Grove. 6 miles. Hoping more people come out and run this week! Everyone is welcomed to run with us! Don't forget your smile and hydration!

Trail Run:  Saturday Morning at 6:30

Distance:  TBD

Meet:  Byrd Park Vita Course

Trail Run Report:

Coleen, Kathryn the Intern and Ralph did the Northbank, Belle Isle, Buttermilk loop from the park this morning.  It may be time to replace the battery either in the watch or the footpod though.  The distance came in at 9.75 (at least a mile more than expected) and we ran our 4th mile at a blistering 3:02 pace.  Now I know Coleen will say the pace was fast, but I am positive it wasn't that fast.  All in all, it was a fun run with no spills.  Time was 1:24:42

Thanks for letting me tag along Ralph - it was fun!
Tues AM Ride Report: Johnny Mac, the Colonel, and iFred enjoyed the Riverside Loop backwards, and then backtracked to Nickel Bridge, crossing it instead of Huguenot Bridge.  A total of 21 miles for Johnny Mac and the Colonel, and 27 for iFred.  Everyone looked good and recovered from the weekend's exploits: the Colonel ran 8 Saturday and 22 Sunday, iFred and and Johnny Mac ascended Wintergreen and Cub Creek Mountains on Saturday, and iFred and JD rode 62 miles on Sunday.
do you do this ride every tuesday?
Yes. Route changes but basically the same distance and time.  We meet at Malvern and Grove at 5:45 am.  I ride from Bellevue, leaving at 5:30 am, adding around 7 miles roundtrip.
