Supporting running in the metro Richmond area

I just saw that Charlie Engle is the guest speaker at the upcoming banquet. It will be so interesting to hear his story since he and his teammates were the first people to run across the entire Sahara Desert. What an incredible adventure that must have been!

I wonder if you could have the time to do so where would be your dream/adventure run?

Hi Eileen,
my dream run, after spending the month of December in the Florida Keys, would be to run across the 7 mile bridge, without any traffic on it, on a beautiful morning to take in the pelicans, the sunrise, the incredible water and perfect breeze. What is yours?
Karen
Dear Karen,
Hello beautiful friend!
I loved this what you said! I could envision how serene and glorious this would be with such breathtaking natural scenery all around! I am so glad you got to have some amazing runs in the incredible beaches of the Florida Keys!
I loved the beautiful photo of you in the sparkling water---happiness! And you looked gorgeous and filled with joy! The water and sand are JOY!

Hmmm... I have to think about this for a dream run. Last year, I really wanted to run Antarctica just to see the magnificence of the grandeur of the ice.
Now I am thinking each part of the world has such unique splendor---maybe a run around the entire world just to see nature's treasures around the globe, including the exquisite Florida Keys!
I think I have a worldwide run on my mind after listening to the Black Eyed Peas song "One Tribe" and the part where they say "We are one people"----Besides nature, to run and see all the different types of people around the world.
So many different cultures and yet we are all on the same journey of life each trying to do the best we can do.

Karen, welcome back to Richmond! We missed you! And can't wait to see you very soon! You are the Sunshine!!
Well this is an amazing and lucky coincidence!! I just checked the mail and received a new running magazine "Club Running"---I wonder if this is one of the benefits of joining the RRRC to receive this new publication?
To my delight and amazement there is an article "Where in the World is Gary Morgan?"
This guy really is doing my dream run! He is actually running around the world!!Incredible! Great article!
He says, "Life is an adventure. Live it."
His enthusiasm and running to explore new areas can also apply to runs around your own town---which is great! Because I really probably won't be able to do a worldwide run, though I wish I could! But I do love that fun and happiness to discover new routes especially trails near your own home.
This is a very interesting story about Morgan if anyone has a chance to read it. It's a magazine by the Road Runners Club of America.
All current members as of ~12/15/09 should have gotten a copy. It is one of the benifits to RRRC for being part of RRCA.
Ed,
You are the sweetest and nicest!
Thank you for all you do to make the running community and club so wonderful!
This is a great gem of a publication and worth the RRRC membership in addition to the fantastic club races, marvelous causes, super wonderful people, and the RRRC's own topnotch and stellar magazine/newsletter!
Eileen, if there would be one person that I personally know that could or would actually attempt to run the world, it would DEFINITELY be you! One thing you said that is interesting...when Tommy and I vacation we always run in the surrounding neighborhoods. We did it in Anguilla, St. Croix and Austin TX, to name a few. You really get a good feel for what the community is truly like, as opposed to staying secluded in a resort or compound. The Anguillans were the warmest and most generous people we have ever met, even the ones that emerged from their cars every morning, which, unfortunately, is where they basically lived. Different cultures are truly fascinating and running is a great way to learn about them. Even the "Conchs" in the lower keys have their own mindset and aura. See you soon!

The world is such a beautiful place full of goodness, love, and wisdoms of the different peoples and filled with Joy because of the magnificent and glorious natural wonders!
