Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
Thursday December 22: The Museum of Fine Arts Winter Solstice Trail Run and Light tour! We leave from Sheppard Street behind the Museum's parking structure at 5:32pm. We will run over The Boulevard Bridge, take the Buttermilk Trail west to east, cross Belle Isle and then run through the fan while taking in the light displays! This run is right for you if you can hold a 9:30'ish mile pace, can comfortably run trails and most important Want To Have A Little Fun and Adventure! Bring a headlamp or hand-held! Bring fluid if you'll want to drink on this 8'ish mile run. After: Some will likely be heading over to the Galaxy Diner in Carytown for whatever they're serving-up.
Saturday, 6th (or 7th ?) Christmas Eve: THIS IS THE CHRISTMAS EVE RUN THAT YOU'VE HEARD ABOUT!!! IT'S THE BIGGEST AND BESTEST IN CENTRAL VIRGINIA!!! COME OUT FULLY DRESSED IN YOUR BEST CHRISTMAS ATTIRE/COSTUME (whatever that may be)!!! Don't be left out if you haven't yet done this one!!! The 10K easy paced run starts and finishes at the Robin's Center/Fooltball Field at the University of Richmond. We start at 8am and will run 3.1 miles from the UofR and onto Grove Avenue east. There'll be water/fluid at the turnaround. Big thanks to Harry Donati for manning the water stop. The return to the UofR is the reverse course. when back at the UofR we will have a cookie exchange, so bring something to share, as well as a baggie to take something home! A bunch will then be heading over to the Westbury Pharmacy Cafe for a great breakfast and a bottomless cup o' joe (great breakfast specials for $5.24 including tax). Please bring a few cups and a bottle of fluid so that Harry will have something for us when we get to the turnaround.

Formerly known as the Christmas Eve "BOOT" Run?? Mark, do we now call it the "BOOTSTUMP" Run? Is there even a stump left? Christmas Eve Mulch Run?... just chipping away at anything here....

Permalink Reply by Mark Iscool on December 19, 2011 at 10:01pm OK, the plans for the past Christmas Eve runs was to meet under and photograph the group at the BOOT (big old oak tree). However, the BOOT fell victim to the march of advancement and development. So this year, we'll celebrate the BOOT being in a better place. Yes, we'll run the BOOT-B-Gone 10K. All in favor?
Bootless Iscool 10K?

Permalink Reply by Jon Jester on December 22, 2011 at 11:47pm Solstice run...good stuff. The weather was perfect tonight with heavy rain, fog in the low parts of the trail, mud, ankle-deep puddles, semi-raging streams, etc. It doesn't get much better than this.
God rest ye merry gentlemen, and women.
Well done!
Yes, it was insanity at it's finest. The best part was the Christmas caroling at the end. I'm surprised they didn't call the cops!
