Supporting running in the metro Richmond area

How has running helped you cope with the day to day and unexpected events of life? I have only been running for a year, but running has helped me to deal with unexpected passing of my dad, and helped me to keep my sanity as I planned my wedding last year.

I agree with several previous posts--running is the best way I have found to relieve stress. For me, getting outside and engaging the body in vigorous activity works wonders. This simple act calms an overactive mind. In part, running distracts you, but it can also give you a perspective on your problems that you would never achieve sitting at a desk.
