Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
The leaders of the RRRC are awesome to invite Dick Beardsley to speak at our fabulous banquet last night. Tommy and I were lucky to have bought and read his book "Staying the Course" before last night and were so excited to see him. As luck would have it we arrived early enough to meet him and have a great conversation with this amazing man. I knew from reading his book that he was an animal lover and was delighted to find out last night that he has 5 rescue dogs and 2 rescue cats, and that he and his wife, Jill, work at a local animal shelter. We have the best running club, thank you so much for all you do! Congratulations winners!
I had not attended a club banquet in at least 20 years. Something always came up and it just didn't work out, but last night's event was terrific. We do have the best run club, but not just in Richmond. Last night's event demonstrated it. What a great group of runners and volunteers. Congratulations to all who worked to make the banquet such a terrific event.
I started running in 1982 and that Boston marathon was memorable, because a fellow Cuban-American won it and provided inspiration and motivation to me. I was disappointed that he never quite ran that fast again and perhaps now I understand why. Thank you for bringing Dick Beardsley to town to share his amazing story.
Thanks to Sean Cusack for his service to the club over the last couple of years and best wishes to Sabrina as she keeps the club moving forward and becoming even better, if that's possible. I promise not to wait another 20 years before coming back.
I was honored to be given an award with Manuel. To hear Dick speak then be honored to be 3rd in our age group with Manual I was speechless, all I could do was shake the hand of the 1 & 2 :)
