A group of us from the Sports Backers HMTT (that ran Richmond Half in November) are training for the Shamrock Half, and plan to meet on Saturday mornings for long runs. This group is very informal. We're not coaches or super experienced runners -- just really enjoy training together in a fun, social group.
If you are interested in joining us, come on out! The more the merrier. Also, please let me know if you want to be on our e-mail list.
Here's the plan:
---DATE/TIME: Saturday mornings @ 9 a.m. We will start January 2, but feel free to join up as meets your schedule. We will leave promptly at 9 a.m. so please plan arrival accordingly. As the weather gets warmer and runs get longer, we may look at starting earlier.
---LOCATION: Dogwood Dell in Byrd Park
http://www.richmondgov.com/parks/dogwood.aspx. Central location for folks all around town. This is also where the Spring MTT meets at an earlier time, and they have free parking.
---TRAINING GUIDE: See attached schedule we'll be using as a guide. We will follow this for the Saturday long runs. If anyone is ramping up your training, you can certainly run more/less and rearrange days as fits your plan.
---HYDRATION: Everyone will need to bring their own hydration belts and energy treats, since we won't have formal SAG breaks.
---COMMUNICATION: We will use the SportsBackers HMTT message board (
http://www.halfmarathontrainingteam.com) to communicate about the training group. Check there for updates, messages and routes for the week. I will try to post routes by Wednesday of each week. Please print your own route for each run.
