Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
We are organizing a new trail run on September 25th at 7 am—the James River Loop 8 Miler—that is guaranteed to be a classic. The course does the natural loop through the James River Park on the Buttermilk and North Trail. The 8 mile trail run starts and finishes on the grounds of Maymont.
The course goes east on the North Trail from Maymont, across Belle Isle, west on the Buttermilk trail to the Boulevard Bridge and back into Maymont for the finish. This is the loop that trail runners from throughout the region brag about to their friends from other cities. Except for the ½ mile section at the start, the whole course is off-road and almost the entire course is on single-track trail. Yes, there are roots, rocks and lots of hills.
The James River Loop 8 Miler utilizes wave starts in order to control the volume of runners on the trails, so you will be asked to indicate your predicted time when you register. All 8 Miler registrants will receive a technical race shirt! To register just go to www.sportsbackers.org and click on the Maymont X-country Festival.
I hope you can join us for this classic race on the James River Loop trails.
