Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
It's Almost Here! Monthly Trail Run! Sunday, July 2, 8AM! All Weather/All Conditions!
Run in the woods = Happy! Great post-MTT recovery run!
If you can run 6-7 miles on the roa...ds at a 10:30 minute-per-mile or better pace, and wish to inject some fun and adventure into your running, then please read on! If you can’t, then please train-up and keep an eye out for our future runs (the 1st weekend of each month).
We meet at the Pump House Drive trailhead parking area (adjacent to the Boulevard Bridge toll plaza) and run a 6-7 mile route on the James River trail system. This is a great way to get to know the trails, get in a quality workout, and meet new runner peeps!
We run short segments at a conversational pace, regroup, then head to the next regroup point. No one gets dropped! We have sweepers to take-up the tail end; and from what I hear, that’s where the good times happen! There are usually 25-40 runners in this group. And yes, we strongly recommend that you bring a friend, a neighbor and your dog!
No special equipment is needed! Road running shoes are great on these well-established trails. We will pass at least one porta-potty and a water fountain. Bring fluid if you’d like to drink on the fly.
The route: We'll run some configuration of the NorthBank, Buttermilk, Texas Beach and Forest Hill Park trails, plus the TPot bridge. If the trails are wet, we'll head over the Boulevard Bridge, hit the service road, do a loop on Belle Isle and back. Either way, there's no cars and lotsa trees!
Post-run: We have a tailgate snack and beverage fest, which seems to be a bigger attraction than the trail running! Most participants bring small contributions to put on the table for all to share. This is a great opportunity for networking with like-minded athletes!
