Supporting running in the metro Richmond area

Hi everyone,

I wanted to let you know about a couple opportunities for trail users to show off the Cap Trail to some county leaders later this week.  This Thursday (7/27), I’m meeting Henrico County Manager John Vithoulkas and Supervisor Tyrone Nelson for a ride, jumping off from Four Mile Creek trailhead at 9 am.  We’ll initially head west towards the city, probably turning around at Ronnies BBQ to return to FMC.  I throw this out in case anyone knows of group runs or rides whose routes might happen to coincide with this field trip.  It’s always nice to show these leaders a busy trail.  :)

The other opportunity is on Friday, (7/28).  I’m part of a panel discussion on the tourism/ economic impact of the Cap. Trail., with a bus tour after that.  Leaders from Chesterfield, Hanover, the City of Richmond, and Henrico will be touring.  The bus tour begins at 12:45 and will head east from Rocketts Landing.  It will head to Four Mile Creek and return by 2 pm.  Just in case anyone happens to be exercising along Mile Markers 50 - 40ish or so between those hours.

Thanks!  Maybe we’ll see y’all—or some training teams, or families... out there!
