Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
Monthly Trail Run! Sunday, August 6, 8AM! All Weather/All Conditions!
BRING A FRIEND TO SHARE IN THE JEWELS THAT ARE THE JAMES RIVER PARK SYSTEM TRAILS!
If you can run 6-7 miles on the roads at a 10:30 minute-per-mile or better pace, and wish to inject some fun and adventure into your running, then please read on! If you can’t, please train-up and keep an eye out for our future runs (the 1st weekend of each month).
We meet at the Pump House Drive trailhead parking area (adjacent to the Boulevard Bridge toll plaza) and run a 6-7 mile route on the James River trail system. This is a great way to get to know the trails, get in a quality workout, and meet new runner peeps!
We run short segments at a conversational pace, regroup, then head to the next regroup point. No one gets dropped! We have sweepers to take-up the tail end; and from what I hear, that’s where the good times happen! There are usually 25-40 runners in this group. And yes, we STRONGLY RECOMMEND that you bring a friend, a neighbor, your next-of-kin, your pool-boy (We won’t ask any questions!), and your dog!
No special equipment is needed! Road running shoes are great on these well-established trails. We will pass at least one porta-potty and a water fountain. Bring fluid if you’d like to drink on the fly.
Precipitation: In the event of rain, snow, sleet, tsunami, typhoon or other such conditions, we will modify the route and run the service road to Belle Isle, around Belle, and back.
Post-run is the best! We have a tailgate snack and beverage fest, which seems to be a bigger attraction than the trail running! Most participants bring small contributions to put on the table for all to share. This is a great opportunity for networking with like-minded athletes, share running experiences, plan your next outing on the trails, or just engage in a bit of harmless trash-talking!
