Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION STAYS OPEN UNTIL 4PM. YOU DON'T HAVE TO REGISTER TO VOLUNTEER. SHOW UP BY 6:30PM TO HELP OR A LITTLE BEFORE 6:00PM TO HELP WITH RACE DAY REGISTRATION AND NUMBER PICK UP.
If you aren't running this race come out and volunteer. We need registration, race marshal, water stop, and finish line volunteers for this great race on a closed course.
Volunteer registration is open. Registration volunteers show up before 6pm, others before 6:30 pm. Volunteers can always show up a little early to see if additional help is needed. Find the truck. We will get the logo on as soon as we have a long enough break between races to get it done!
Let me know if everything looks ok with the volunteer registration as I sometime forget to change something. As always, we like volunteers to sign up online to feel comfortable that there will be enough of you out there to cover the race (You can just show up race evening, by why not register-name, email, phone# only-just to make the race director and volunteer coordinator feel better?)
Since Pete's not here to badger you this week to sign up to volunteer online, allow me to take over. we do need a fair amount of volunteers and will possibly need to man two water stops if it's like the weather's been recently. (Last year it was easier because the cups filled themselves during the three major storms). All volunteers will receive ice cream also.
Badger time since I am back!
Hahaha I also badgered the HMTT Penguins this morning. Hopefully we get a few of them.
If we need help with registration/handing out bibs I don't mind doing that before I run either, is it okay to do that?
It would be great for you to help out with registration/number pickup before you run. Grand Prix rules state that you can only get the race points if you volunteer and also run the race but that doesn't mean that you can't help out before the race. Go ahead and sign up to volunteer since that gives us an idea of who will be there to help. You will have to check with Karl about double ice cream though, volunteer and racing. That is not covered in the GP rules.
Oh... I want the running point... not concerned for the volunteer point! :) I just won't have anything to do between 5:30 and 7:30, too little of time for me to drive all the way from work to home and back out to the race. I'd rather just stick around the West End.
Regarding Points and double ice cream, that is against my Weight Watchers points, so I will just take the one!
Only kidding about the double IC. The GP points are another matter. Those that need another GP race to help get up to the five needed to qualify as a finalist can help with registration and also race and get the race counted. Anyone who needs a GP Race volunteer point cannot get a volunteer point unless they just volunteer. Some RRRC races you can get a GP Race volunteer point and race point if you volunteer for pre race day registration\number pick up the day before the race and then run the race.
Some members are looking to just qualify for Grand Prix because it is a challenge that does not require you to be a fast runner. Others help out whenever they can because it is enjoyable and helps out the club. Many help out at one or many races without ever qualifying.
Pete, I volunteered last night at the second water stop (I gave you water), but I never signed in. Who do I tell?
Hey Scott, I'll passed this on to Lee White. Thanks to everybody that volunteered last night. We did have a little trouble reading a few. Is it Eli, Elizabeth or Ed Fisher? How about Teri or Keri Williams? Here's the list of everyone else. Thanks!
