Supporting running in the metro Richmond area

Moonlight 4 Miler Volunteers Thu, Aug 12, 6:30PM. Thanks to late sign up of volunteers and all the "walk ups". The race was well covered.

We need volunteers for this RRRC Grand Prix Race.  Volunteers need to be there at 6:30, race starts at 7:30.  Get directions to the site on the home page.  The race is at a new location off 288 with easy access and plenty of parking.  You can use the link below or on the home page to register online to volunteer.  Great chance for club members that are busy on weekends to volunteer.   You can bring your family out also and help out at a water stop, be race marshals, etc. YOU DO NOT NEED TO REGISTER TO VOLUNTEER.  JUST SHOW UP AT THE RACE SITE AT 6:30.

Hey Pete -

I signed up as general volunteer because I'm cool with helping out wherever there's a need. Volunteers get ice cream, too, right? :)

Renee
Absolutely. Thanks for volunteering. (insert appropriate emoticon here).
Does the race start at 7 or 7:30???
Event page says Kid's race at 7:00 and 4 miler at 7:30
You don't need to sign up to volunteer (but I would panic less). Just show up at 6:30 and find the truck. I was away from the computer all weekend and saw no uptick in volunteer registrations. We need you there to help.
I signed up as a course marshall but I can fill in wherever needed---and someone else can have my ice cream---I don't need it!
Signed up as general volunteer, will do whatever needed.
This is a great race to volunteer as a family and help at a water stop. The kids have great fun giving out water. You get a family outing, the kids get excited about running, and there is free ice cream at the end.
Although I normally don't get water at the stops, seeing an entire family with little kids passing out water generally puts a smile on my face.

I would volunteer but I'm usually running the races instead
I don't live near West Creek & not sure what the weather is like there. It is thundering and lightning at my house. Are there thunderstorms and if so is the race still on?
Shane,
I think there are many in the club like you. I have always tried to run as many RRRC races as I can because they such fun and a great bargin. Why don't you look at the contract races coming up and volunteer for one of those or come out and help one Wed evening and help out with the Summer Track Series? Once you get a taste of volunteering, you are hooked and you get that free invite to the annual banquet.

For events you are running would the race director or volunteer coordination want help with pre-race setup, registration, etc. from members who can get to the events early? I started to inquire prior to last night's event but with rain delay and arriving late did not. May also be able to assist with post race cleanup. Thoughts? (Not looking for volunteer points since race participants not eligible for vol. points)

I know much of the priorities for volunteers are registration, marshalls, water stops and finish line. And maybe this could be as simple as approaching the race staff and asking if they could use your help pre or post race.
