Supporting running in the metro Richmond area

I know it is dangerous to run with ear buds, but I am trying to compile a song list so I can burn onto a CD and maybe put on my ipod so I can listen when I am at the track or the VITA course. What music do you like? I am open to all suggestions.

These are also on my shuffle.

I listen to a lot of 90s era punk rock... so my shuffle has a lot of Rancid, Inquisition (this was a local Richmond band), Ann Berretta (also Richmond), Green Day, Pinhead Gunpowder, Operation Ivy, CIV, Shelter etc.

I really recommend CIV's album - Set Your Goals it's a really good feeling punk/hardcore record with a positive message. It really fuels my runs and workouts.
I am not familar with any of those groups but that is just me . . . maybe we call make a list and put it on a RRRC discussion.
I Like You So Much Better When You're Naked - Ida Maria - 3:14
Stronger - Kayne West - 5:12
Black Betty - Ram Jam - 4:01

These are on my "running classics" playlist as well. Along with a bunch of replacements, pixies, and national songs. and a lot of rap music.
I think they're great...in particular, the Ida Maria song. Sometimes I just put it on repeat :)

I like the pixies too. If you have time, put up some specific songs that are your favs and I'll put them on my list.

Thanks for the suggestions . . . those are some good tunes. I am usually a classic rock type of guy but I like some metal, hip hop, oldies, and even classical to listen while I run.
Hi John,

I tend to listen to female pop artists when I run but have pulled what I consider the "rock" songs from my playlist that you might enjoy. Are you concerned with BPM? If so, these are listed in order increasing the pace as you go.

Into The Night (Santana) 128 3:44

Sandstorm (Darude) 137 3:45

Shake it (Metro Station) 149 2:59

All Fired Up (Pat Benatar) 152 4:11

Thx for the Memories (Fall Out Boy) 156 3:23

Radio Free Europe (REM) 156 4:05

Hey ya (Outkast) 159 3:55

Goodbye to you (Scandal) 161 3:46

I Wanna Be Sedated (The Ramones) 162 2:29

How far we’ve come (Matchbox Twenty) 166 3:31

Private Idaho (B52’s) 169 3:34

Not sure about the BPM…

Beautiful Girls (Van Halen) 3:54
Cut and Move (Day of Fire) 3:25
Radar Love (Golden Earring) 6:27
Thanks for the song suggestions . . .
I will add some of those to my song list. Do you think we could do a list to post here for running songs? What is your opinion?
my fav song to pick me up when I am hurting on a run is "feeling better" by Bob Schneider. He is a jazzy/country kind of guy out of Austin, TX and the song has a great feel good beat. Check it out, you can listen to his stuff before you buy at his website, bobschneidermusic.com. Go to menu/discogrophy/album im good now/ track 20 to hear it. Enjoy!

Chris
I have some standard cliche running songs like "Born to Run" Springsteen, "Roll Me Away" Bob Seagar, and "Runaway" Bon Jovi. Yes I am from NJ.
John,

Just want to remind you and your team about this Sunday (sorry but I lost your email so I am sending this here). Buddy's rescue Ladder at Midlo Middle School, Sunday at 5pm. Hope to see you and some of your athletes then!
