Just wondering what happened with the RRRC license plate offerings from DMV. Are they available?

I forgot about this! But that would be cool! I remember there was a vote maybe a year or two ago on the possible design.
I was just looking for that on the DMV web page. I want one.
The original notices on this were on the old website, including proposed ideas.
Does anyone know what happened? I remember voting for the one I liked best and then didn't hear anything for quite a while as it fell off my radar. I always thought it was a great idea. and still do!!! Can we resurrect the effort?
I'd be interested. There has to be as much interest in an RRRC plate as there is for some of the obscurities currently available.
I think it would be to get something similar to cyclist and maybe put "Virginia is for Runners" or Running through History
It would be wonderful if this really goes through!
This was the winning plate.

when will this be available from the DMV?
Wow!! Ed, this looks fantastic!!! I love it! Very cool!
You can check out authorized specialty plate on the DMV website. There is no Va Runners plate on current list. Requires 350 prepaid applications. Don't know how far the club effort got but copied the following from DMV:

From the DMV website:

Before consideration of any special license plate authorization, the individual, group, organization, or entity seeking the authorization must demonstrate to the satisfaction of the General Assembly that they meet the statutory issuance requirements, which includes having collected 350 or more prepaid applications (i.e., application and plate fee). The special license plate statute can be found in the Code of Virginia, § 46.2-725.
Following are instructions to assist you with the collection of the 350 prepaid applications.
1.
Determine the proposed cost of the special plate.
a.
Non-revenue sharing plates generally have a $10 annual fee.
b.
Revenue sharing plates generally have a $25 annual fee and the revenue is shared with an entity or organization. After the sale of 1,000 sets of plates, the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) shares $15 of every $25 with the specified entity or organization.

Other rules on site as to what and how organizations qualify. In addition to one of the above fees, you also pay the annual $10 fee if you want your vanity plate, eg. DON RUNS, on the specialty plate. And the normal registration fee depending on your vehicle size.
There must be at least 350 runners in Va. that would sign up for this plate. We can get the word out to other running clubs. Does anyone know what our next step is. I am willing to help out with this if we want to pursue it further...
