Mine is to get back into running, on a regular basis. In the past I have run up to 30 miles a week but since having my daughter I am barely getting 10 miles a week in. So, that leads me to goal #2, which is to lose about 20 pounds. I have never been overweight before, but it has crept up on me in the past two years and I need to get it under control.
hoping to remain injury free and finally run my first marathon!
My resolution is to make time for running in the winter!!! It is so easy to do in summer and fall, harder when it is dark outside!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I ran through wet mud and snow today!!! It was not too bad.
Sarah:

Good for you running through all that muck. I ran this afternoon on some trails in Pocahontas Park. It was muddy in a few spots but nothing major. The hardest part of winter running for me is to run when in your mind you are coming up with 100 excuses why you should put the run off. That is why I felt so much better after my Christmas Day run in snow and a rainy downpour. Next time everything is saying "don't run".......go for it and run any way. Once you finish....it might do wonders for your positive attitude about your running.
- Cut 10 minutes off of my last years Monument Ave 10K time. (I was 1:29 last year).
- Run a Half (my first) in fall. (Probably the Richmond Half... was thinking the VB Rock N Roll, but it may be too expensive).
- Lose about 30 lbs. (at least)
- Do more trail runs.
- Join in on the BPG when i feel a little more confident.
Nicole,

You should run the Patrick Henry Half!!! Sure, it's at the end of August and it's hot and humid and completely devastating outside, but it's a nice course and there's lots of great people and support. I ran it this past year as my first half marathon and had a blast! Good luck with your goals in 2010!
Hot and humid sounds pretty good to me right now.
sounds awesome...I will never complain of too hot weather!
My goal: To run like it's my second job! Too often I make lame excuses for why I can't run: too cold, too dark, too tired. Blah!!! I love to run and I know that if I just get out there I'll be so much happier than not. I think the winter blues set in and I lose motivation. Well, in 2010, the treadmill will be my friend (if necessary) NO MORE EXCUSES!!! I plan to run my first marathon in March so time is of the essence :)
Renee;

Gosh, I hope you do not view running as a "second" job but as something you love to do. As a time for yourself, to veg out, to let life's stresses melt go away, to help you relax and enjoy the feeling of freedom, as a time to get to know and become more comfortable with in yourself.

Hoping you have a wonderful time running in the New Year and a great experience running your first marathon.

Run Happy
Thank you! I think I should clarify: I do enjoy running. I definitely do not see it as a job, but as far as sticking to a schedule and completing the number of miles I should, I get bad about that sometimes. I thought that if I took my training as seriously as my job (I would never not show up to work) I will be better prepared for this first (and hopefully not last) 26.2 mile journey!!

But I appreciate the perspective! Running has improved my life in several ways and the reduced stress is a big one!
Going to build up to my first marathon. Looking forward to getting involved with the club this year.
