Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
October, The RVA Monthly Trail Run and YOU! Perfect Together!
They're here- October weather and the MTR! Saturday, 10-07-17, 8AM! And yes, it's October, so it's OK to drag a friend into the woods with you!
WHAT: The MTR combines training, fun, friends and trail running in one. It’s an easy paced 6-7 mile trail run that was designed for those looking to try something other than road running, and/or wanting a guided tour of the wonderful resource that we have in the James River... trail system (Buttermilk, Forest Hill Park, Belle Isle, Pipeline, NorthBank and Texas Beach Trails).
We run some configuration of the single-track James River trail system. If you are trained-up to run 6-7 miles at an 11-minute per mile or better on the roads, then you'll fit right in! Experienced trail runners will be mixed in with the group, and no one gets left behind! We run short segments, regroup, and move on. This is all about working-out and enjoying the experience.
Road running shoes are fine for these well-established trails. we will pass a porta-potty and water fountain(s) en route. Bring hand-carry fluid or a hydration pack if you'll want to drink on the fly.
Details: The MTR starts and finishes in the gravel parking lot on Pump House Drive, immediately adjacent to the Boulevard Bridge toll plaza.
Post-Run: One of the best parts of the MTR, and trail running in general, takes place after the running has ended! Those coming out usually bring snacks and beverages for themselves and to share. This is THE social gathering of the month!
