Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
RVA Monthly Trail Run! Saturday, 12-02-17, 08:00! All Weather! BACON!
First things first: BACON! At this MTR, I will bring a batch of thick-sliced crisp BACON for after the run. Eat it straight up, or bring something to slather on it; i.e.: peanut butter, Nutella, strawberry preserves, etc. Your choice. Now the other details:
Come out and be part of the RVA Monthly Trail Run (MTR)! Combine training, fun, friends and trail running in one! The MTR is an easy paced 6-7 mile tr...ail run, which was designed for those looking to try something other than road running, and/or wanting a guided tour of the wonderful resource that we have in the James River trail system (Buttermilk, Forest Hill Park, Belle Isle, Pipeline, NorthBank and Texas Beach Trails).
The group size is usually 25-35, and will run some configuration of the James River trails. If you are trained-up to run 6-7 at a 10:30 minute per mile or better road pace, then you'll fit right in! Experienced trail runners will be mixed in with the group, and no one gets left behind! We run short segments, regroup, and move on. This is all about working-out and enjoying the experience.
Road running shoes are fine for these well-established trails. Bring hand-carry fluid or a hydration pack if you'll want to drink on the fly. We will pass at least one porta-potty en route.
Details: The MTR starts and finishes in the gravel parking lot on Pump House Drive, immediately behind/adjacent to the Boulevard Bridge toll plaza. And yes, dogs are welcomed to join us!
After: One of the best parts of the MTR, and trail running in general, takes place after the running has ended! Those coming out usually bring snacks and beverages for themselves and to share. For this month, see “BACON” above…
