Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
In order to avoid decrepitude and having to have our daughter come "rescue" us, and to watch the grand-kids grow up, Mary and Tom Bednarz are moving to Dallas, Texas to be near the kids.
The running routes here and all the runners that I have met will never be forgotten. So many friends I do not know where to start. 34 years of participating in ~850 races and 105 marathons is enough memories to last me a life time. But Dallas should add a few more.
So Thank You All for being my friends. I love you all.

Permalink Reply by Marcus Bailey on March 26, 2012 at 7:33am Take care!!!! I had fun talking to you during a number of the races and the advice that you shared. Some of your advice I have passed along to others regarding getting active. You are an inspiring person and encouraging as well! Enjoy the Big 'D'!!!!!
Tom you will be missed. I will remember you more for the time and efforts you spent volunteering and supporting the RRRC more than for your race efforts. Best of fortune and health in Tx.

Permalink Reply by Thomas M. Humphrey on March 26, 2012 at 11:50am No TallTom in Richmond races anymore? No, it can't be. Such a thing can't happen. We depend on seeing Tom at RRRC races just as we assume the sun will rise in the east every morning -- it's one of nature's constants. It's going to be monstrously hard to adjust to this one. The world won't be the same again.

Permalink Reply by Old Guy on March 26, 2012 at 12:20pm Great for you. Enjoy.......... big lost for RRRC...we will all miss you. My best Tall Tom story, you were behind me on the old mud loop at James River H.S. trail run, probably the Youngblood race. I heard a yell and a big thump, as you caught a root and fell. I said it sounded like a tree falling. Yelled back and you said you were fine........
Best to you and Mary
Permalink Reply by Mike Levins on March 26, 2012 at 1:31pm You'll still be coming back to help with the Marathon & Monument Ave 10K Expos, right? HA! Good luck to both Mary & you! We're the richer for having had you and the poorer for losing you.
BTW, does this mean someone will be tearing down your home and rebuilding on your lot?
Permalink Reply by Ed Carmines on March 26, 2012 at 1:47pm Good luck Tom. It was always great running with you. Truly a gentleman. If you are ever in the Phoenix area, look me up.

I wish you and your family all the best on your move. Thanks for all your support to the RRRC over the years. My best memory of all the years knowing you will be a few years back waiting on line to get our bibs/packet for the NYCM and there amongst the crowd, I look up and see you. So no matter the size of the event you always "stood out". Be well and keep on the move!
Regards,
Steve Lerner
Good luck Tom!! You are a running machine!
