Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
This week's Tuesday Nite Workout will be an ever popular nite on the trails!!! This workout is a great fartlek session, which will aid in developing strength and agility!!! This is for you if you can run a 9:30 or better road-pace, and are tired of the same-old, same-old road training!!! Trail running shoes are not necessary!!! Road shoes are adequate. Heck, you are welcomed to try barefoot running.
We meet in the gravel parking lot between Dogwood Dell and the dog park to begin running at 5:30pm. We'll head over the Boulevard Bridge, onto Buttermilk Trail east to Riverside Towers, back to Reedy Creek, thru the tunnels to Forest Hill Park, one loop around FHP, back to Reedy Creek, then back to the cars.
Bring fluid if you want to drink. The fountains likely will not be turned on for the season.
The theme of this week's run is: DROP NIGEL IN FOREST HILL PARK!!! But that really doesn't matter, as he'll somehow find his way out of the woods and into a pub. Q: Is think that is a learned or genetic trait?
Questions? Call me...

Nigel's ankle had a dissagreement with his leg in the North Bank Trail on Saturday - the ankle won!!!! so you will have to find another back marker, sweeper, last man standing etc.
The pub is a better option as long as i can keep my leg elevated!! Winston will return........

Hope you are able to walk on the ankle especially with travels abroad. I have found pool workouts not as social as the running group. On the bright side we can both put our feet up at the pub. Hope you are running soon. I had a revelation that my injury may lead to a triathlon one day when I can run again.
Next time the pub is on the rotation let me know.

I can do a fairly good hobble so no way as serious as yours was but still a pain in the backside!!!
Our pool doesn't open untill the summer & i want to be back on the roads before then so in the meantime we could sit at the pub on 17th st & watch the group do hill repeats............we might even buy them a pint after their workout.......Cheers.
Permalink Reply by Geoff Hoekstra on March 20, 2012 at 11:42am I'll be there. Hey, is dogwood dell that area in that one park with the exercise trail and there's also a tall tower nearby? this meeting spot is kinda next to maymont, right?
Permalink Reply by Mark Iscool on March 20, 2012 at 1:18pm Yes. To the left of the Carillon (tall tower) is the Dogwood Dell ampitheatre. Then to the left and back a bit is the fenced dog park (Barker field). The gravel parking area is in between Dogwood Dell and Barker Field. WooHoo!!!
Permalink Reply by Annie Stanley on March 20, 2012 at 3:28pm I am 0 for 3 on babysitters tonight. Unfortunately, my gaggle of girls would not be happy either on trails or at the pub (Mama, on the other hand, would be quite thrilled to be both places!!)
BUT - going forward I think I've negotiated Tuesday nights as my night off. So I hope to see you all on hills, trail, and track soon.
Happy Running - Annie
