Supporting running in the metro Richmond area

It looks like wonderful weather for the Monument 10K! I checked weather.com and it says in the high 50's for Sat.
There is a raincloud picture, but that could be very iffy. Although like last year, even if it does drizzle, everyone's spirits are sunshine happy, you don't even notice it!

the drizzle last year helped me run faster, but this year I have serious trepidation about the rain coming down in buckets.
Chase,
You are right--the drizzle is wonderful and refreshing!! :)
You might also be right about more serious rain this year--but I hope it holds off! :
If anyone else is wearing a costume and worried about waterproof, Sharpie marker pens will not wash off easy---even with soap and multiple showers! My daughter wrote a fun reminder note on me with a
Sharpie pen, and it's still there a few days later!
So if you are doing body drawings for the costume contest and it rains--the Sharpie marker is the way to go!
Your designs will remain intact in all weather!
I'm pumped up either way! Although i hope my first really rainy race will be a mudbath. i've made it through multiple XC seasons so far without one.
pienso que llueve cuando eso no dice ninguna lluvia, y ello ninguna lluvia cuando esto dice la lluvia.
True. We were supposed to have awful weather for the Marathon/Half-Marathon, but it ended up being a last blast of Indian Summer... people were dropping like flies because it got too hot and sunny!
I can't wait either way. I love running in that 50 to 60 degree window. That's just perfect if you ask me. And I've figured out my costume. I'm going to come as a fat 210 pound runner. Wait, that's what I am already. Shoot. Back to the drawing board.
Yes! This is going to be so much fun!! And those temps will be so nice!
Do any of you seasoned runners have tips for running in the rain? I have not had that experience.

I have hiked in the rain and i do have a very lightweight Mountain Hardwear jacket that is breatheable with pit zips. Is that recommended for running? (or jog/walking, as i entered in wave X)
I can only speak for myself, but I know that wearing a breathable hat with a brim keeps the water out of my eyes and face. That helps a lot. You probably want to wear a cheap, disposable poncho or trashbag (with holes cut for arms/head) prior to the race starting to keep dry. They sell the ponchos at the expo--if any are left in stock. When your wave starts, you can toss the poncho/bag to the side of the course. Or, just keep it on until it makes you uncomfortable if you aren't going for a fast time. I don't wear jackets unless it's really cold, which tomorrow it's not supposed to be. I don't know about your particular jacket, but as long as it's lightweight and breathable it might be okay. Even though it's not going to be hot tomorrow, it will be humid with the rain, so you don't want to cover up too heavily. If it gets to be a problem, just take the jacket off and tie it around your waist.
Thanks for the tip on the hat. I grabbed a breathable one at the expo this evening. I can't get my Phillies World Series champions hat wet. :)
socks that wick... Vaseline on your toes to prevent blisters... disposable poncho to wear at the start, then take off and throw in trash just moments before your wave starts. Use body glide liberally on areas that might chafe. A hat or visor (as John mentioned) is a good idea.

I don't usually wear any sort of rain jacket in a race, for training on easy runs I do, but in a race, unless it's really really cold, I find that a jacket makes me over heat.
Would you suggest shorts and tank for rain and 50's temps?
