Christmas Eve Run - 10K, 5K, & something shorter for the kids.  Start at 9:00 a.m. from the Station Cafe (beside the Library on Center Street).

Hey Ashland Runners,

There is 5K this weekend near Ashland, Running for Anna, in the Deer Creek Neighborhood (off Winston Rd behind Poor Farm Park).  This run is in memory of Anna Wright:

 

A graduate of Patrick Henry and a student and soccer player at Lynchburg College, Anna died in an automobile accident last summer.  This 5K run/walk will raise money for a well in Africa to be drilled in Anna's memory in order to provide water for the people of Uganda.  Information follows...

There is a group that's running some extra miles after the race if you need to get in a longer run.

Freezing Toes and Nose 5k Christmas Eve Morning

Details:

Here is the route for a 5k (10k optional) on Christmas Eve morn. We run at 9am from the Station Cafe (Ice Cream Shop beside the library) in town. Please print the route - my printer is not working! Please pass this to other runners you know.

Saturday 12/11 - 9:00 a.m. from the YMCA - Paces from 8:30 to 11:00 - not sure of the distances folks are running.

 

BTW - there is a board up in the Y lobby where you can post when you're planning to run or look for someone to run with.

Hi John - We're trying to get a bulletin board up inside the Y lobby where runners can post when they are running (not sure if it's up yet).
There should be some folks running at 6:00 on Tues & Thurs mornings.
As far as the weekend runs, I'll try to post time & location when there is a group run. I know a lot of folks are running the 10 miler in VA Beach or Bear Creek this weekend.

Hello. I would like to know if the Tuesday runs are still at 6 am at YMCA Ashcake ? I was also wondering if there are Sunday group runs ?

What: Tom Grant's Annual Ashland Unofficial Turkey Trot
Distance: 5k (with 10k option) and a 1/2 mile kids run (with mile option)
Where: Carter Park
Time: 9am
When: Thanksgiving morning
Cost: Free

Come out Thanksgiving morning to Carter Park and join other Ashland area Americans to burn off some calories so everyone has more room for extra pie.

This event is unofficial and will be in true "fat ass" style which means no fees, no awards, no aid and no wimps. There will be some water on the course if Tom remembers to drop his coolers off at my house. :)

Bring your own bib number if you have one. Also, wear your favorite race t-shirt if you have one of those.

If someone wants to bring a treat for everyone to enjoy after the run, that would be nice.
