Supporting running in the metro Richmond area
martha said… The results are posted...this was my 2nd fastest 50K (out of 31)...2 minutes faster than Groundhog 50K in 2000. But not as fast as my 5:20 at Holiday Lake this year, which shows that I've really lost speed due to the 100M training and the gait issue...hopefully both of those things can be fixed soon.
I think running Gibbet 50 prior to MMTR will really pay off for you at MMTR -- it will give you a chance to practice pacing over 50 miles, plus managing nutrition etc. For MMTR, just add in some climbing and another hour or two out on the course!
Congrats again on a great run yesterday!
martha said… What was your time today? The humidity and the gravel made for a tough day. But a nice day out, good training run, and overall, a great little race. I really faded in the 2nd half, too -- I'm already thinking about going back next year -- I think if I get my gait issue fixed, I could finish a bit faster.
Look up "Hoka One One" shoes -- I think this is what we need for the gravel. Several people at Vermont had them & loved them, despite the fact they look like clown shoes. :) Oh, and they cost a small fortune. But I bet you could coast on that gravel....

Yeah any help would be great...not sure if its a disc/back problem affecting my siatic nerver or the nerve/muscle combo in my hip. Not sure who to talk with
