5th Annual Poinsettia Run
5th Annual Poinsettia Run!
RAIN OR SHINE
When: Thursday, December 17th 6:00pm
Where: Ukrops Parking Lot Cary Street
How Far: Approximately 5 miles
Why?: To Bring Joy to the Elderly during the Holiday Season!
Come one Come all for this joyous occasion! Bring your legs, bring your smiles, and bring a poinsettia and come have some fun!During this time of year the elderly are a forgotten group. Some are stuck in homes with family far away. They are unable to move and unable to get out and enjoy the season. A visit from a stranger can mean the world and a remembered token of that visit can last a lifetime.
That is the meaning behind the poinsettia run. We have the gift of being able to run and being able to move each day but who knows when and if that gift will ever be taken away from us. We should cherish it and give back as much as we can. Such a small token for such a precious gift.Come have fun with us, wear your best Christmas hat, red shorts or whatever!
Enjoy some refreshments afterwards at Baker's Crust, enjoy the shoppers of Carytown, the lights of Monument and the hustle of the fan area! So get a Poinsettia and join us for a run on Thursday!!
If you can’t join us and would like to help deliver the flowers to the local homes please contact me at chellequinn@comcast.net because I will need the assistance. This year we will be delivering to The Hermitage. We have delivered to this home for the past 4 years and they love us. You guys are great! We collected over 55 poinsetias last year and made a lot of people very happy. You bring the Pointsettia on Thursday and then we deliver the Pointsettia for you on Friday.
Also if you do not celebrate Christmas and would like to donate something that represents your holiday season please feel free to do so we welcome the gifts!!
Please forward this to all of your running friends and we hope to see you in Carytown for celebrating and helping such a wonderful group of people!
Run for Those Who Can’t,
