Wish I had 1/2 of your energy:). After raking leaves and pulling tarps, I would need at least a 3 day rest before running:). Have a great Thanksgiving and good luck to all on the Turkey Run!! We definitely need to get together for a run soon:)

Hi, Leslie--Congratulations on your excellent Capitol race today! And now Jay is running, too. That's wonderful! Best, Mitzi

Sorry Lisa! I must have done something to mess up the messages...
I should give you my regular e-mail anyway-it is g8rz90@comcast.net.
If you want to just e-mail directly. I am tech impaired so I am sure I messed something up with this site by adding pics...
Wednesday my 3 kids have a swimming practice at 830 am at U of R. But if you don't mind meeting around 7 somewhere -we can run then-. I don't know the Pony pasture route but I will look on this site for the map and print it out-I know Deep Run Park might be closer for you if you know of a route there. We could meet in the front parking lot there(-I think Pony pasture has a lot for parking nearby too -but not sure on directions.)
We could save that route(Pony) if you want- for when I have done my homework ...sorry I dropped the ball !
Maybe for Wednesday,7 -at Deep Run front parking lot -I know the trail there takes around 30 to 45 minutes if we do the outside loop-does that give you enough time to get home and get ready for work?If you have a better suggestion I am game- and I will bring the Pony pasture info if I can get it!

So sorry that I haven't responded sooner. Your note didn't show up on my page. It's only on your page. I happened to find it when I was looking at your pictures.

I would love to meet up with you for a morning run this week (July 15th):). Wednesday would work best for me this week. I'm game for anywhere as well. We can try the Pony Pasture route or something in your area. Just let me know when and where to meet.

Looking forward to it!!

Hey Lisa!
Hope you had a great 5K race a week or so ago.
We just got back from a family vacation to New York and are off to the river today for the 4th.(sorry it has taken so long to get back to you!)
Thought maybe we could try to meet to run in the next week or so-do you have a route you like or a race route you want to try? I see on this site the Pony pasture race is coming up and that might be a nice running route to practice-I have a few routes in my neighborhood off of River Road too-sometimes I even run down Grove Ave. for a change of pace. But I am game for anywhere really. 5k or 10k -
We could try to go early too so you will have time to get ready for work-My kids do a sports camp at 9 - so we both can get back and on our way. What days work best for you?
Tuesdays or Wednes/Thurs are usually good over here!
Hope we can work something out and run soon-and hope you have a fun 4th with your family!
Leslie :)

Hope your foot gets better. I had that a few years ago. My PCP (she's a runner, too) recommended that I limit my flip-flop wear and wear regular shoes in the house rather than barefeet or houseshoes. Not sure if it was the shoes or just healed up on its own, but the facitis cleared up in a few weeks.

Have fun in NY and at the rivah during the 4th:). Can understand about spending time at the river during the summer. A friend of mine has a house in Mathews and its so quiet and peaceful there.

I'm available to meet for an early run during the week for the summer. My husband will be doing drop-off with Zachary and I don't have to be at work till 9. I can also do some evening runs depending on the day. And, if things don't work till July, no problem. I'm just excited that I found a potential running partner:) It gets a bit lonely sometimes training by yourself:).

Thanks for the reminder about the "jack rabbits" for the 5Ks. I went out way too fast in the Autism 5K a few weeks ago and was sucking wind before I hit a 1/2 mile. This time I'm starting in the back to avoid that situation again.

Have a great weekend!!

I understand about your quad. I am dealing with some plantar facitis in one of my feet now. After 40 it seems I have a new pain somewhere each week-guess I need to learn how to ignore some of the little ones! Oh the joys of getting older!
I just looked at the calendar and we are out of town the next 4 weekends.
The 28th we are in New York. The weekend of July 4th we (the whole family) are doing the Reedville 5K up in the Northern Neck. During the summer we try to sneak away to my family's river house up in Northern Va. most weekends. Maybe we could try to meet early some times during the week?-my husband usually doesn't leave for work until around 8:30.-then I take the kids to triathlon training at 9. (or we could meet for a few evening runs if that is better) Otherwise it looks like we will have to shoot for some July Sundays.
I am sorry my calendar is so messy...I should have looked earlier.
Good luck in Byrd Park this weekend! I know you will enjoy it-and compared to the 10k -the race is practically over before your body realizes it has started!
Just don't let all those "jack rabbits" make you start out too fast. What a pretty place to run too!
Have a great race!

Great that you're interested in getting together to run!! Like you, I won't be able to run every Sunday morning due to family committments. I really caught the running bug after the Ukrops 10K and have been just running on my own. I took some time off after the Carytown 10K to rest my quad. I somehow strained it doing some training hill runs. One of the joys of aging:). Before Careytown, I was up to 7 miles on my long run days. I've been wanting to see if I can increase my distance up to 10 miles. I'm toying with the idea of running a 10 miler in the future. Not quite ready to take the plunge for a 1/2 marathon or marathon, yet:) Working my way slowly up to it:). I'm available to run next Sunday morning, the 28th. If you're available, let me know. Not sure where you normally run, but I'm pretty flexible. It would be awesome to get a West End Sunday morning running group going. Most folks I know run on Saturday mornings, but we usually have sporting events going on so I've been running solo on Sunday mornings. It would be great to run with folks again. I really miss the group training runs from the Ukrop's 10K training. I'm running this Saturday morning, the 20th, in the Beat the Heat 5K race in Byrd Park. If you're running it, let me know and I'll look for you. Have a good week and Happy Running!

Not sure if you remember me from David's baseball games, but I'm Zachary Rosenthal's (#10) mom (Lisa Childress). I was talking to your husband today and he said that you run in a few races around town. Not sure what your pace is (mine is a slow 11:30-12:00 min/mile), but if you're interested in running on a Sunday morning, let me know. I've just been running since January and trained with the Tuckahoe YMCA for the Ukrops 10K. I normally run by myself and have been looking for a running group in the West End near John Rolf Parkway. Anyway, happy running and I'll look for you at the races:)
