Thanks Mark. It pains me to not be able to even get a shoe of any kind on.  Yep, lucky no breaks but the doc told me it could be a long road of recovery with the ligament/tendons damaged.  maybe not too smart to run two more miles after falling....but I had to get to the aide station. Really hating the good old crutches.  I will be back at it as soon as possible. For now the pool will be calling my name.  Gotta burn calories somewhere since we all know I love to eat!!!  Take Care, Chris

did not see this or I would have replied. Thanks for the offer.  Good thing I did not carpool since I got injured and pulled out of the run at mile 6.  Made it to the emergency room, on crutches for a bit but luckily nothing was broken from what the x-rays showed. Hope to be back at it in a few weeks.  Take Care, Chris

Hmmm.....well, I guess no harm in that!  My poor husband (who saw me struggling with the stairs on Sunday and Monday) asked me to please not do 50K's again!  Maybe I shouldn't have raced a road marathon less than 3 weeks before Capon Valley!  I told him there were plenty of trail marathons that I could do instead of 50Ks!  I'm training for Smuttynose (road) in October, but don't have anything else on the list as of yet. I'm trying to work on the 50 states plus DC, so my thought is to spread them between road and trail marathons.  If I had gotten my act together earlier, I would have considered the Grand Island Trail Marathon in Munising MI at the end of July.  Maybe next summer!  If you would, keep me in the loop.....I could always use a good trail run somewhere other than the north and south bank ;-)

Okay, I just went up to W VA last weekend with Cathy, Sarah, and Amber to run the Capon Valley 50K. We let Cathy go on ahead, since she is quite serious about the ultra running, and the 3 of us stuck together like glue for 6.5 hours! I have the utmost respect for you ultra folks! What an experience! It was insane! Loads of fun, though, or maybe it was just the company I was keeping....or perhaps all the alcohol we had afterwards! Saw Gordon Thomson there - he had a great run. All in all a great weekend, with the most incredible mountain scenery!

Mark,

Here are the link for the Pocahontas trails.

http://www.gpstrailsource.com/maps.aspx?MapID=8&TabID=3  (easier to plan a run off this site)

I park at one of two trail heads: "Horner Forest Trail" is off Qualla (when I want more hills I park here, some decent hills for repeats) and "Loop Road Trail" is off Courthouse plenty of parking at both trail heads. From either of these Park and run/ride spots you can link into the 13.3 mile Fendley Station loop or just make your own way.  I do recommend hitting any Forest Exploration trails as you come upon them..generally around a mile or a little less but it keeps things more interesting. BTW you will not get the elevation you may want but still a great run.

Enjoy, Chris

Mark, I can't do it tonight, but I'd like to start joining you guys on the nights you do track work.  Are you on a consistent schedule now?  I'd like to plan ahead, so I can bring the right equipment to the office.  Thanks,

Mark: I wanted to make the Solstice Run but have been fighting a sinus infection and with the weather didn't want to get mugged by a snowman. Anyway, Merry Christmas and Best Wishes for a great year of running!!!!!!
