Thanks Chelo! Hope you're feeling better. Right now we're not planning to run the 1/2 marathon. We might run the 8K. So maybe we'll see you out there!!!

Hey Chelo,
I am so sorry about you not being able to run I missed you at the Saturday run and thought maybe you were on vacation. Well don't give up. I want to keep up running even though I'm slow I got running fever now Lol Hopefully you will make a quick recovery and be back at it again. Keep in touch and much success to you. Don't worry we will be running side by side soon.

Dear Chelo, I'm so sorry to hear about your setback. I trained with the team last year for PHHM, it was my 1st race ever and I'd never run more than 3 miles before then. I wanted to do a half marathon for my 50th birthday last year which fell the same week as the race. The coaching was great, I loved the camaraderie. I pulled my quad on 4th of July, had to miss 2 weeks, when I came back, I was doing great, then 2 1/2 weeks before the race I got salmonella food poisoning. My doctor told me that I couldn't run until the severe symptoms cleared, this took another 2 weeks. I was devastated, I had so much invested in doing the race. She cleared me to run a little less than a week before the race, at that point my longest training run was 8 miles. Later, she told me that she never expected me to make it, but with the help of my coach, Ashland Dave, who graciously ran with me, I finished the half in 2:27. It was a total high, and I could have just as easily not been able to do it. I went on training and did the Richmond Half in November, which was even more fun than Patrick Henry, because of the cheering crowds, et al. I'm now training for the Richmond Marathon in November, but will do it as a walk, because I've had IT band problems. Anyway, my point is: keep the faith, you WILL most likely be able to do the half in November if you rest now and get your strength back. I'm sending all my good thoughts out your way, Shelly

Are you still looking for people to run with? I am currently training with the Patrick Henry Half marathon training team at Pony Pasture. I am planning on running the Rock N Roll at Va beach, but then I want to continue training for the Richmond Half. I would like to find someone that would like to do long runs! Let me know if you are interested!

Hey! to answer your question- I have our total time down as 1 hour 39 mins and 11 seconds for 8.22 miles. Hopefully that answers your question!

Chelo, I mentioned you to my friend, Louie, from the Philippines that I mentioned last week . He said to pass along his contact information (lagimenez@comcast.net), and that other than his family, he had not gotten to know many Filipinos in the area either. See you on Sat.
