Getting Back into it

So I have recently started to get back into running...at the ripe age of 29 =)  I ran my first marathon in 2005 and then kind of dropped off the map. I have since been looking for things to fill my time and to stay in shape and I figured why not get back into running. I've already signed myself up for about 4 races this year. So far I am most excited about Color Me Rad. I am running this race with some friends and family and can not wait for it! The next race I am excited about is…

back again

Use to run a lot. Had knee injury, repaired with synthetic injections. Should be good to go.
Looking for friends to run with. Havent run an offical race in 10 years, except if you want to count 2 5 km with my 10 year old granddaughter.

Have had a history of marathons and ultramarathons. Never very fast. Starting over , should be fun!

Reviewing my results from the monument 10k 2012

Overall....very happy w/my time of 50:52. Last year I remember trying 2 break 1 hour so not bad. Trained at the Y a lot. Guess it paid-off. Came in 37th in my age group. 965th overall woman finisher. 4008th overall finisher out of 40,000 or so runners. I have an awesome running partner!

Time to Shift Gears

I had to shift this training program into a higher gear last week. Learned the JFK 50 Mile Ultra has entry qualifications. I was not aware of this until they posted registration on their website. I can do it, but it’s going to be tough. The cleanest way is to run a sub 3:45 marathon before the first tier registration period ends on May 10th. The cheesiest is to get a charity entry. There are…

How SEO Company Victoria helps me

Starting a new leaf in life is never easy. Just like building a new website.
There are a lot of things to do and things to consider. As a website owner myself,
I decided to hire a reliable seo company victoria .
It took me a while to decide on building my own site for my small-owned business.
I am really happy and contented with what they did to my website.

Sucked in by school

So I have had a sad running  hiatus for a while but the last month I have been trying to reorganize my school schedule to incorporate my  running. This semester, I have 8am classes Monday through Friday, and the workload requires me to work from the time I get out of classes usually until at least 9pm. The engineering halls are basically where I live now.

So when I can do it I'll run after classes, but I am going to start waking up before classes start at 6:30am to get one in. My…

My first Ultra

The Holiday Lake 50K ++2012

Over two months ago, on thanksgiving week-end 2011, I started writing my Paris marathon 2012 training plan. I decided to throw in there, in the middle of the training schedule, an extra loooong run, longer even than the marathon distance itself, which I thought would psychologically shorten the 26.2 miles. So I thought about the Holiday lake 50K ++, which some friends suggested as…

Support Our Injured Marines

Please visit my fundraising page for the Semper Fi Fund!   This is my way to "Support through Sport!" our injured and critically ill service members and their families.

The Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are winding down, but many of these great Americans who’ve lost limbs or become critically injured or ill in other ways will need our help for a long time – possibly the rest of their lives. I’m dedicating my running this…

Ultra Running

Hey, after a 7 year lay-off from running distances, I decided to run an ultra-marathon. The JFK 50 Mile in November. To get there, I'll have to train my butt off and run a bunch of other races.

Right now, I plan to run the Irish Sprint at Quantico, Monument Ave 10K, Jersey Shore Marathon and Marine Corps Marathon. There will be others.

I have always believed in running for a cause because making a commitment to others helps motivate me to be successful. I am dedicating this…

Running for the Horses Recap

We had about a dozen folks on our Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation team for the HCA 8K on November 12th.

Keagan's in Short Pump sponsored our team T-shirts and we raised over $3,000 for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. One guy sent us a check for $2. He said he was out of work and couldn't afford more but appreciates the work TRF does for horses and humans. I…

Surf-N- Santa 10 Miler

Went to Virginia Beach for this one. Loved it! A MUST do again. Weather was excellent, crowds, costumes, scenery was awesome. Had a good showing. Came in at 1:22:57 (8:18mi), overall 408 out of 2434 runners, 37 out of 143 for age group, and 313 out 1056 for gender.  Happy with results. That puts me slightly above average to middle of the pack runner. No shame here and least I'm out there at 47yoa.

Missed posting

Lets see, since I was on here last did the Richmond Capital 10 miler. Liked it, will do again next year. Last hill was a killer on this one.

Did the Yorktown Battlefield 10miler. Didn't enjoy as much as I thought I would. Wasn't very scenic and could get the same run here at Pochontas State Park. I remember thinking to my self there wasn't enough water stops, lack of volunteers I think.

Last, the Suntrust/McDonalds Half Marathon. Lots and lots of people. Did i say lots of…
